What will you do with the children while you're still at work and on your way home from work? Do you have a plan already? If so, that resolution was probably a huge relief. On the other hand, maybe you are still wondering what you will do. If that's the case, from accepting help from grandparents or trusted friends to arranging for after-school childcare, here are some ideas that might help you.
Accept Help From Grandparents Or Friends — Whether it's just one grandparent or whether there are four who are willing to help with your children after school, consider yourself tremendously blessed. If it's a trusted friend who has children at home anyway, maybe he or she has offered to watch your children along with his or her own kids.
Maybe these individuals don't want to be paid for their service to you. If that's the case, you can be very creative in the way you thank them. For instance, when you are in the process of making food for yourself, set aside frozen meals you can give to the grandparent or grandparents. Of maybe you can treat your friend to something nice like a massage. Gift cards are also a great way to thank those who are watching your children until you get off work.
Arrange For After School Child Care — There are more than likely many after-school childcare facilities from which you can make your choice. Is there one right at your children's school? If so, it probably makes a great deal of sense for your children to stay there until you can pick them up.
Maybe your school doesn't have an after-school program. If that's the case, think of arranging for your children to go to a facility that also provides transportation from school to the after-school child care program. Your children will probably really enjoy their time spent with other kids who are also waiting for their parents. There will probably be snacks provided, and there will be things like crafts and other fun activities available to your children. During the summer months, the facility will more than likely be happy to watch your children during your working hours, too.
